RiverStone Health to offer vaccines at senior meal sites in Yellowstone County | Billings News
RiverStone Health is bringing immunization clinics to senior meal sites throughout Yellowstone County this May. Seniors can receive a second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, as well as vaccines for RSV and shingles. Brenda Koch, Program Manager of Vaccine Services, emphasizes the importance of staying up-to-date with vaccinations to maintain immunity.
YELLOWSTONE COUNTY, Mont. – RiverStone Health is set to provide immunization clinics at nine senior meal sites in the county this May. The clinics aim to offer a second dose of COVID-19 vaccines to those who received their last dose six months ago or longer.
Brenda Koch, the program manager of vaccine services, emphasized the continued importance of COVID-19 vaccinations. “As we age our immunity from some vaccine wains, and in 2024, 75% of persons hospitalized from covid were over the age of 66 and all covid related deaths were in people 55 and older,” she said. Koch noted the need for seniors to maintain their immunity, stating, “It’s not a new vaccine it’s the same vaccine, but it’s just gonna give them that little added protection to get them through to the next Fall.”
Yellowstone County recently reported 20 new cases of COVID-19, leading to two hospitalizations. This highlights the ongoing risk and underscores the importance of staying updated on vaccinations.
The clinics will not focus solely on COVID-19 vaccines. RiverStone Health will also offer vaccines for RSV and shingles. They request those interested in additional vaccines to call ahead at 406.247.3232 to schedule.
